Date, Walnut And Linseed Bread
Ingredients
- ¼ cup butter
- 1 cup dates pitted and chopped
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup cake flour
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- ¼ cup chopped walnuts
- 2 tablespoons linseeds
Preparation
- preheat the oven to 180 °c and grease a loaf pan.
- place the butter, dates , molasses and water in a saucepan over medium heat. stir until the butter and molasses have melted. remove and set aside.
- in a large bowl, sift the flours, salt. add the sugar and make a well in the center of the dry mixture, add the eggs and vanilla essence.
- pour in the wet ingredients and mix well. add the walnuts and linseeds.
- add the mixture to the loaf pan and bake for 30-40 minutes. remove and cool.
